Buying costly decorative items may not be possible for every one because of financial constraints or space problems but still there are many ways to decor the house as per personal liking within low budget. Wall or ceiling decoration with Warli art and floor decoration with rangoli patterns are the two ways, which are gaining popularity among all the social sections. Besides it, wall decoration with hand fabric painting is also emerging as the latest interior decoration trend.
Warli is the largest tribe found on northern outskirts of Mumbai, in Western India. Warli tribe community is spread up to Gujarat border. Warli craft was rediscovered in early seventies, while its roots go back to 10th century AD. Very soon, it became popular because of its simplicity and unique flavor of common’s man life. Warli Art came into the significance, when the practice of decorating the walls was the only way to transmit the message of folklore to the masses majority of whom was not versed in written word. These paintings don’t depict any particular mythological character or deities instead these reflect different aspects of social life. Small Warli paintings are done on paper or cloth but these look better in their traditional style- on the walls. These may be theme oriented like festival, harvest, folk story, celebration and temple marriage etc.
Another Indian traditional art being used to decorate the houses is Rangoli art. Well proportioned rangoli patterns differ at large in different parts of India; some of those are hundreds of years old. Rangoli designs are based on particular themes, which are commonly known. Some popular themes are rising sun, zodiac signs, moon, stars, Om, swastika, chakra, lighted Deepak, mangal kalash, trident, "shree" and lotus etc.
The other way to decorate the house walls is through hand fabric painting. This art gives you the freedom of portability. The different fabrics are hand painted by the talented artists by using fast colors. These may be of any theme oriented as per your liking. The major advantage of this art is that you can shift the fabric painting anywhere, whenever required.
